For Interior Interviews, I interview the founders of the most beautiful interior accounts. I ask them about their story, interior styling tips, sources of inspiration, and more. In this edition, I interview Ruby from @huisjekwartshove. Her home is colorful, but classy! The blue couch is the superstar of her interior. How would you describe your style?

I think I would describe my style as Scandinavian with a pop of color.

What are your tips to create such a look?

My tip is to keep the base very light and calm, the floor and the walls, then you can make beautiful color statements without it feeling overwhelming or as if the colors demand all the attention.

So beautiful all those colors and the blue couch. It’s also very brave! How did you decide that it’s the right choice?

Quite honestly, the sofa was my very first purchase and actually the starting point for the interior. Everything has been chosen around the sofa. I have requested samples everywhere and always went out with all those samples to make choices. The computer program Sketch Up saved me. I taught it myself and in that way my house came to life during construction. I added everything in the program and tried different color choices. Because of that I knew after a few tries: this is it.

Did you ever regret a purchase, and if so how did you solve it?

I can buy impulsively, but luckily I never really regret a purchase. The only time was a lamp for the nursery. The lamp was cool, but in the end didn’t fit the palette at all. I hesitated for a long time and bought a new lamp anyway.

What inspires you?

I get inspiration from magazines such as Eigen Huis en Interieur, Vtwonen, but also from less well-known magazines, such as Open House Magazine and Ark Journal. Instagram accounts I like to follow are:
